Climate Action London is a small but mighty organization that brings together diverse stakeholders to integrate the City of London’s Climate Emergency Action plan into their homes, workplaces, schools, stores, and community centers. They also provide support to unique projects and efforts that encapsulate issues related to climate, sustainability, and environmentalism. The vision for Climate Action London is to embolden all citizens, communities, and institutions in London and its surrounding communities to meet and exceed the provisions of London’s Climate Emergency Action Plan targets by 2030.
Led by a team of volunteer citizens, Climate Action London is responsive to community-based climate action challenges as they arise, while also supporting ongoing efforts and building partnerships to achieve climate action targets. They welcome and amplify new volunteers, while taking a strengths-based approach to empowering leadership.
Climate Action London provides multiple opportunities to community members to engage in climate action work, through newsletters, monthly advocacy meetups, and responsive strategies to advance climate action policies at the city-level. Additionally, they support community-led greening efforts through co-created initiatives including Greening Sacred Spaces, which inspires faith communities to embrace London’s Climate Emergency Action Plan, and the London Greening Health Initiative, which encourages connection with nature in pursuit of wellbeing.
In GOGREEN, we define the green SDGs as the following SDGs: SDG 6, SDG 7, SDG 11, SDG 12, SDG 13, SDG 14, SDG 15
